It is now 6 weeks until our planned trip to Eretz Yisrael. Although both of us have visited many times, this is the first trip where the primary focus is for aliyah. We hope to really check out as many potential communities as possible, spending two Shabbatot at the front runners. Currently our favorite prospective community is Kochav Yaakov. After that come (with no clear second place) Nof Ayalon, Beit El and Hashmonaim.
For the past few months we have been scouring Websites (NBN’s Community Page was a big help, as are Chaveirim on the Areivim Mailing List) trying to find communities that meet our general criteria. So far, the hardest things to find in a community is the combination of central-location with affordable housing availibility, frum/halachic atmosphere and community feeling. If you know of any other places, please let me know.

I agree. my family and i have the exact same issues. If you have found any good communities please let me know. Another problem for us is that all the frum affordable communities are a bit isolated and are always near Yerushalayim and not near Tel Aviv, where all the jobs are!?
Any help would be ver ywelcome. thanks.
