What a sad day for the Jewish people and for the State of Israel.
I am asked at least once every week or two something along the lines of: “So, on which side of the Green Line/Security is Kochav Yaakov (our current aliyah-destination of preference)?”. My standard response is something along the lines of “What green line?” or “The same side as the Kotel” or “I prefer to call it the Liberated Territories”. As politicians in Eretz Yisrael are once more jumping on the Peace band-wagon (don’t they have really short memories??), falling over themselves to give away our land, I am trying very hard not to think bad thoughts about the future.
For years I have been telling my friends that the only way to bring peace, to bring geulah is not to sit back, twiddle our thumbs and sing “We Want Mashiach Now” – rather we need to do our part, today, in advancing the world towards its future. But am I myself really so ready to take such an active role? Am I ready to move somewhere that is “over the fence”? Am I ready to practice what I preach? I hope so.
