This past week marked the tenth anniversary of the assasination of Yitzchak Rabin (by who?).
Here are two blog posts to put the event in perspective: The Beatification of Yitzchak Rabin by Jonathan Rosenbloom and some commentary by Chardal on the subject.
Remember, he is the one who started this whole mess. He is the one who shook hands with Arafat (may his memory be cursed and may the righteous trod upon his ashes) on the White House lawn. He is the one who started the trend of giving our Land (and weapons) to our enemies, a tradition that continues to this day. Rabin’s legacy is not one of a martyr. If anything it is a real example of how much damage one can cause when one is solely backed up by good intentions.

its not your land, you don’t live here. you never have done and neither did your parents or grandparents for that matter. Perhaps 2,000 odd years ago maybe, but then its all getting a little spurious isn’t it.
Rabin was more of a zionist, a brave man then you will ever be and its his labour zionist heritage in the form of IDf soldiers from kibbutzim or nahal garin that will probably be guarding you in your little colonial enterprise in the west bank
stay in brooklyn or wherever you are from. we don’t need you here.

Thanks for reading Mark.
(By the way, it’s Brookline, not Brooklyn!!)
It is my land. As much as any other Jew. If you want a source for this, please go to last week’s parasha.
True, I don’t live there today. But I will in 7 weeks. And I have lived there in the past (I have been there for about 2 years out of the last 10).
I do not contest that Rabin was a Zionist. I readily admit that he was much more of a Zionist than I will ever be. That is, if you go by the 20th century definition of Zionism. If you go by the Torah’s definition of Zionism (ie: that the Land of Israel belongs to the Jewish people, is an eternal inheritance from God given to Avraham Avinu and his descendents, that a king from the Davidic line should be in charge, a Sanhedrin should be sitting in the Lishkat haGazit, the Beit haMikdash, shmittah, yovel, terumah, etc) then I believe that I am much more of a Zionist then Rabin ever was.
I did not make any comment about Rabin’s bravery. It is not something that I ever have or will contest. He was a brave soldier and pioneer. It was also very brave of him to go out on a limb and make a trip to Oslo and then to Washington D.C. It was very brave of him to give Jericho to Yasser Arafat, along with the weapons to police the PLO-governed areas. It was also very stupid. Brave…but stupid.
It is interesting though that you refer to Yishuvim as a “colonial enterprise”. This does give me some kind of an idea about what your overall opinion of Jews living in Israel is, and about who has a right to the land. I would not have referred to a yishuv as a “colonial enterprise”. They are not colonies of the State of Israel. They are not experiments. They are not “Occupied”. They are part of the Land of Israel. I am very proud and excited to have the chance to take part in contributing to the Jewish settlement in the Land of Israel. Let me know if you ever want to join us.
