On most streets in Israel, if you look carefully, you will see electrical boxes. About five feet tall, four feet across. Usually painted grey or some other boring color.
However, sometimes people (or municipalities) take things into their own hands and decorate these boxes in an attempt to make the neighborhood look nicer. And it really works.
Last Summer, the powers at be in Kochav Yaakov arranged to have an artist come through the neighborhood, and paint over a number of the centrally located electrical boxes. It really adds a lot to the neighborhood. Here are what they look like (Click on an image to view a larger version):

These are great pictures! This was done last summer as well in Mevaseret Zion…..my in-laws live there and we were there for a month in ’05. I even saw some of the artists at work and was thrilled to see that some were high school aged kids working with their friends or parents. Thanks for sharing, kol tuv,
