One Day of Yom Tov is Very Cool

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

Let me count the ways:

As I write this, our brethren in America still have a few more hours to go on the eighth day of Pesach. So far today I have had regular cereal for breakfast, a falafel in eshtanur for lunch (from the best falafel store in the world, Shalom Falafel) and pasta for [...]

The Rebbe is Dead

Monday, April 17th, 2006

Really. He is. Died 12 years ago. Unfortunately, a large (part of a large) movement within Judaism believes that a dead man is the messiah, will have a second coming and will redeem the world. Does this remind you of anything else (i.e.: think of another offshoot of Judaism that believes to this day that [...]

Chag Sameach!

Thursday, April 13th, 2006

Especially to those of you who are right now having their second seder, at the beginning of a three-day Yom Tov/Shabbat combo, who (hopefully) wont be reading this until after Shabbat, at the earliest. I remember what that was like.
And don’t forget:

Not everyone happy about NBN’s move to the UK

Saturday, April 8th, 2006

On August 15, Nefesh B’Nefesh will having its first flight originating outside of North America. They will (God willing) be bringing British olim on their charter flight from the UK.

Parenting Lessons From the Shabbat Table 1

Thursday, April 6th, 2006

Over the past couple of years, we have had many Shabbat meals with other families. Some that we hosted, some where we were guests. During that time, we have observed many different types of interactions between parents and children. I would like to share some of these. (It is sometimes so frustrating to watch these [...]

Changes in the Weather

Wednesday, April 5th, 2006

Here is what the weather was like today:
8:30 – Annoying light rain, cold, cloudy
9:30 – Drizzle, heavy fog
11:00 – Heavy, heavy rain (you know, when it sounds like lots of nails hitting your roof)
13:00 – Light rain, very cloudy, very cold
15:00 – As we speak, it is very sunny outside, warming up, very few clouds
This [...]

Want a Ride?

Sunday, April 2nd, 2006

Joe Settler writes about an experience he had giving a ride to a hitchhiker who was dressed like a frum woman, but ended up being an Arab (she lied about her ethnicity and destination at first).
In the wake of events like what happened last week, stories like this make me even more wary.
I want to [...]
