So we were just trying to call someone using our land line. And we received a message saying: “This call cannot be completed because the user has not paid their phone bill”. Adina remarked: “That’s kind of embarassing that the whole world gets told when you don’t pay your phone bill”. So we tried a different number. And then a different number. After the third attempt, we realized that it was us who did not pay our phone bill.
Whoops.
But this isn’t the way it should work. We misplaced the bill last month and forgot to pay it. Not out of malice, but just because we forgot. So instead of just giving us a penalty on next month’s bill, they cut off our outgoing calls. Without ever calling us to find out what was going on (and they have our phone number). And to top it all off, we cannot even dial Bezek using the special 199 number that is suppossed to work from any phone.
Good thing for them that they have a monopoly.
(Sigh…)

From what I’ve heard, Verizon Wireless does about the same. Not that they’re exactly the paragon of Customer Relations…

Switch to HOT (077) http://www.hot.net.il. They are much cheaper than Bezeq. And your number won’t change if you do have to move.
