This morning, the host of my favorite Israeli morning radio show (Yedidya Me’ir on Radio Kol Chai) begain with the following:
“The big news of the day is summarized by the headline in the newspaper Maariv: ???? ????, ???? ?? (A President Goes, a President Comes). No, we are not talking about President Katzav. Rather, the headline is referring the Aharon Barak, the former head of the Bagatz (Israeli Supreme Court) who presided over his last case yesterday. Now that is the type of news that I like to wake up to in the morning.”
I couldn’t agree more. Good riddance. If you want a small taste of the affect that this man has had on the country over the last 11 years, read the article by Caroline Glick on the subject. (Of course, this being the land where ???? ???? ? ????? ?? - God’s eyes are always on it, people like Barak do not come into power and wreak their havoc for no reason. Still, it is very nice to see him go.)
