The windshield wipers on my car have been slowly failing over the past few months. They were not exactly brand-new when I got the car (the car was a 2002 model, so I am pretty sure it still had the original wipers on it when I got the car). Of course, during the Summer this did not matter so much. When it is not the rainy season (and therefore, unlike in the US, there is absolutely no precipitation) the only time that you need to use your wipers is when the car gets a little bit dusty. However, since the rain started (almost a month ago), the wipers get a good exercise every day or two. This also would not be much of a problem, except for the fact that they were quite literally falling apart (the rubber part of the right wiper was mostly disconnected, and the left wiper made the most annoying squeaking sound).
There is a person who lives a block away from me who owns a small auto supply store nearby. I had been planning on going by sometime this to get new wipers, but it just didn’t happen.
Anyway…this morning at davening, I saw the guy. After davening, he was driving past me and I motioned for him to stop. I asked him if he had wipers in the store (since it would be annoying to go to find out that he didn’t have them). He replied “not only do I have them, but I might have some in my car right now”. So he pulled over, went to the back, found some wipers…5 minutes later he had changed my wipers (they work great!) and taken away my old ones, for a very fair price.
My downstairs neighbor saw all of this and said: “you wont find this anywhere else, not in America or Israel. Not only do you get service to your house – you even get service at the shul”. (Only in Israel).
