Moving UP in the World

No Sundays? Who Cares! »
« The almonds are blooming…yet again…

It’s Adar, and you know what that means…

No, I am not talking about my impending birthday, Purim, fasting, and God-willing an addition to the family.

I am talking about annoying pre-teens scampering around and setting off firecrackers. All over the place. It has begun.

I do think that my threshold is higher than it was last year. If I see a group of kids crowded around in some yard down the street, I probably wont go and confront the whole group of them, telling them how it is dangerous and annoying. They wont listed to me anyways, and I have better things to do with my time. I will draw the line if they set them off on our porch (which they did a couple of times last year) or if they do it after dark underneath Moshe’s window and wake him up (please don’t). If that happens, I will just go to their parents (since on my street there are a limited number of suspects).

I don’t know, as I get older and more comfortable in Israel I find myself more willing to confront people who are a nuisance.

Yeah, but you have to choose your battles. The kids who set off the firecrackers will either deny it or take off running at the first sight of me coming to yell at them.
